Fototra (roots) is a musical project supported by Encoder Experiment and the BSKMG collective, winners of the ONY 2025 Booster. Through a blend of horija, a traditional Betsileo vocal form, and contemporary electronic sounds, the project explores memory, transmission, and Malagasy heritage.
The ONY support was comprehensive: financial aid, mentorship, access to ONY House studios for recording, mixing, mastering, and music video filming.
And this is just the beginning; Encoder Experiment will be present at IOMMA 2026, the essential Indian Ocean music event, on June 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in Saint-Pierre, Reunion Island. This international recognition is a testament to the project's strength. 🌍
