Malagasy Cinema in the Spotlight
On October 9, 2023, the Malagasy delegation of ONY Booster took over the cinema hall of Studio des Ursulines for a preview screening of short films made as part of Workshop 7, an A-Z film production workshop founded by Malagasy director Zo Tahiana Hariminoson.
Before an audience of 150 people, five short films made by students from the first cohort of Workshop 7 were screened, each exploring the myth of Sisyphus in its own way. "La Cure", "DAMA", "Désillusion", "Engrenage" and "Hidy" thus offered a unique glimpse into emerging Malagasy cinematic creativity. This screening also highlighted the potential of Malagasy cinema on the international scene, showcasing its uniqueness, blending tradition and modernity.
The event was also an opportunity to present other projects incubated by the ONY Booster, such as the KALANORO video game developed by the video game studio Red Raketa and the SIKAJY animated series directed by Ridha Andriantomanga, director of the 3D animation studio Lewak Studio.
