2025 Laureates - Creation

Music

NOMA

Led by Joyce Mena, with Jessy and Tida Kenny, the NOMA project aims to create an album drawing on the sounds and cultures of Madagascar.

Through artistic travels to Tamatave, Diego, and Nosy Be, in conjunction with the Alliances Françaises, NOMA fosters dialogue between regions, cultures, and local scenes.

Beyond musical creation, the project has a strong social and cultural dimension, promoting live performances in areas sometimes far removed from traditional cultural circuits, as well as female representation on the Malagasy urban scene.

Cinema

Bako

BAKO is an animated feature film project written and directed by Lemena Vintsy, a committed filmmaker who has already tackled sensitive and sometimes taboo subjects in Madagascar in his previous works.

Adapted from Iharilanto Patrick Andriamangatiana's novel Onjam-pilafila, BAKO tells the story of Bako, a young woman forced to marry her aggressor, Ratiaray, after an unwanted pregnancy. In her quest for self-reconstruction, she gradually discovers her lesbian identity through her relationship with Fetra, in a society where homosexuality remains strongly taboo.

A sensitive and profoundly human project, praised by the jury for its maturity, narrative strength, and potential to shine at independent film festivals, both in Madagascar and internationally.

The film is developed and produced by Befiana Platform Corps, through its audiovisual production company Mazava LÖHA.

Animation

Alakaosy

Helmed by Raïssa Youssouf and Heri Shinato, Alakaosy, the cursed world is an animation project that reinterprets and modernizes tales and legends from Malagasy culture to pass them on to new generations.

The story follows Rojo and Aina, 13-year-old twins with opposing personalities, who cross a magical portal into the terrifying world of Alakaosy, populated by creatures from Malagasy mythology.

Trapped in this cursed universe, they will have to overcome their differences to hope to escape, at the risk of being stuck forever and turning into monsters.

Combining adventure, fantasy, and cultural transmission, the project offers a modern and immersive reinterpretation of Malagasy legends.

Video Games

LIGHTON

LIGHTON is a 2D sidescroller that plunges players into a retro-apocalyptic universe with a strong aesthetic, blending nostalgia, declining technologies, and touches of Malagasy culture.

In LIGHTON, you play as Lumen, the last of the filaments, an animated electrical entity at the heart of a world called Helaria Nova, once prosperous and now threatened by an army of advanced LED technologies.

These luminous beings have progressively taken control of this universe, jeopardizing its balance and its inhabitants.

Armed with his cape and trombone, Lumen traverses varied and stylized environments, confronts his enemies in dynamic combat, and progresses through levels blending action, platforming, and exploration.

Inspired by the intensity of Dead Cells and the visual poetry of Neva, LIGHTON offers an immersive experience driven by strong artistic direction and a unique atmosphere.
